3-1 squads Carolina Panthers and Detriot Lions go head to head in Detroit, with the Lions sliding by The Vikings and The Panthers riding high on their tearing down of the defending champs New England Patriots. So who are the favorites to win this week?
Carolina – +3 (-115)
Detroit – -3 (-105)
Carolina – (+115)
Detroit – (-135)
Over/Under – 43.0
Over – (-110)
Under – (-110)
The similarities across the board of each team are surprising, if not frustrating. Cam Newton leads Carolina with 882 passing yards and 5 touchdowns and is second on the team in rushing yards with 90 and 2 touchdowns. Matthew Stafford leads Detroit with 887 yards and 7 touchdowns and is second on the team with 53 rushing yards.
The Panthers leading rusher is the old faithful Jonathan Stewart with 240 yards. Their receiving corps is a bit top heavy, with Kelvin Benjamin, Devin Funchess and rookie Christian McCaffrey all over 200 yards, with Funchess really blossoming in the last two weeks with the injury to star Tight End Greg Olsen. While only having 3 targets on offense makes it easy to lock down and take away Newton’s only options, stars Glover Quin and Darrius Slay can’t cover everybody.
On the other side, Detroit’s leading rusher is the (relatively) new hand of Ameer Abdullah with 257 yards and a touchdown facing star linebackers Luke Kuechley and Thomas Davis. There should be very little room to run, putting all the pressure on Stafford. He isn’t facing the best secondary in the league but doesn’t have the best weapons at his disposal. Aside from his top receiver Golden Tate, TJ Jones and Marvin Jones aren’t carrying their weight, and his most physically imposing receiver rookie Kenny Golladay is out with an injury.
Carolina Panthers 24 – 27 Detroit Lions
with such close statistical match up, you fall back on what a player is known for. And while Newton has been getting better at winning games, nobody comes from behind like Matthew Stafford.
Look for The Panthers to fall behind the 3 point spread (-115), Over 43 points (-110), and the Lions to ultimately win (-135).Bet Now!
