The NFL Season is upon us once again, and Super Bowl hopefuls Oakland Raiders open in Tennesse against Marcus Mariota’s Titans. With some of the tightest odds of week one, who should you favor to win?

Odds

Spread
Oakland – +1 1/2 (+110)
Tennesse – -1 1/2 (-130)

Moneyline
Oakland – (+125)
Tennesse – (-140)

Over/Under
Over 51 1/2 – (-105)
Under 51 1/2 – (-115)

For anyone who followed the NFL last season, these are surprising numbers. The Raiders, a team on the rise leading a highly competitive AFC West are favored to lose against The Titans.

Not that Tennesse shouldn’t be beating teams by any means, but they’re a team still finding their footing since drafting Quarterback Marcus Mariota. They found success signing Running Back DeMarco Murray who rushed for the 3rd highest total in the league last year, but they can’t seem to find any help out at receiver. They signed the oft-injured Eric Decker and drafted Corey Davis, who disappointed through the preseason. If these two big-bodied pass catchers can click in week one they stand to put up big numbers against The Raiders shallow pass defense.

The largest advantage of the game though goes to Oakland’s offense against the Titans defense. There has been a lot of turnover on the Titans D, which makes it tough for a constantly new crew to work well together.

The Raiders, on the other hand, Have MVP candidate Derek Carr leading the charge. Carr made huge strides last season before getting injured at the end of the year, but with his return, as well as the signing of Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch, it’s hard to imagine The Raiders not putting up a ton of points.

This game could have shoot-out potential if Mariota can avoid Defensive End Kalil Mack, which is unlikely.

Prediction

Oakland Raiders 30 – 24 Tennesse Titans

Oakland is just too stacked not only against the below average defense of Tennesse but against the League as a whole. This game will not be as tight as the odds make it seem, and the only factor that will push the score Over 51 1/2 is Mariota’s knack for scoring.
